ISTANBUL- Today, Boyut Yayin Grubu along with the authors Ansel Mullins and Yigal Schleifer announced the release of their latest English language publication, "Istanbul Eats, Exploring the Culinary Backstreets”. From the street cart selling traditional chickpeas and rice to the classic neighborhood meyhane, Istanbul Eats focuses on "Istanbul’s soul food” served at the small local eateries throughout the city.
"This book celebrates the unsung culinary heroes of Istanbul. Donerci, pilavci, kofteci, esnaf lokantici- these hard-working people are protecting an important Istanbul tradition. If food is culture, then these are its ambassadors,” said co-author Ansel Mullins.
"Istanbul is one of the world's great cities for eating. But, until now, there wasn't a proper guide out there for those who wanted to discover Istanbul's authentic dining scene. We wanted to change that with this book, creating a guide for people who travel by following their appetites and who want to discover a side of Istanbul that previously only locals knew about," said co-author Yigal Schleifer.
Selected from the award-winning website, Istanbuleats.com (founded and authored by Mullins and Schleifer in 2009), the book is composed of 80 reviews with vivid photographs of the best local restaurants around the city.
