Discover the world of E.T.A. Hoffmann with Search and Find The Nutcracker. The popular christmas tale is retold in beautifully illustrated search and find scenes where you can find the characters on the busy pages, and follow them through the story. Each page is full of characters to find and details to spot in the busy scenes, such as Marie and Fritz receiving gifts, the battle between the dolls and the mice and Marie's journey to Candyland. Beautiful illustrations are accompanied by abridged text, perfect for sharing with young readers, and introducing them to the festive classic.
Review: This book is based on the original story by E T A Hoffman, and is illustrated by Federica Fenna. The Nutcracker is, of course, a much-loved seasonal story and this abridged retelling makes it suitable for a young audience. Accompanying the text are beautiful detailed search and find scenes where children can find the characters and follow them through the story. There are lots of other objects to spot as well; there are 10 objects and characters to find in each scene and looking for them enhances appreciation for the illustrations. Popular scenes feature Marie and Fritz receiving gifts, the battle between the dolls and the mice and Marie's journey to Candyland. The illustrations offer lots to look at and plenty to talk about and the book as a whole is a lovely introduction to the ballet. * Parents in Touch *
A lavishly gilded illustrated book, inviting keen-eyed puzzle fans to find hidden treasures as this classic story unfolds. * Little London *
One in a series of gorgeous, foiled hardback books bringing to life classic stories in a new and interactive way. When people think of 'The Nutcracker,' they often think of the ballet, but the full story 'The Nutcracker and the Mouse King' is actually much longer and quite dark in places. In this version, we follow Marie and Fritz as they receive lavish gifts for Christmas, including the wooden Nutcracker doll (which Fritz damages), see the famous battle between the dolls and the mice, and visit the Marzipan Castle in Candyland. What makes this series stand out for me is the quality of the books and the beautifully detailed illustrations. These interactive classics allow readers to search for lots of hidden details within the pages, or choose a specific character to follow. It would make a great gift for fans of The Nutcracker of any age, with the abridged text and illustrations making it the perfect introduction to a classic. * Library Girl and Book Boy *
