Voices of the Old Sea

Lewis returned to live in a then-remote Spanish fishing village after WWII where life revolved around the sardine catch, local bars and feuds with neighbouring villages. Writing with affection and sorrow, he recorded their struggle to sustain the old way of life in the face of inexorable tourist developement. Picador reissue.
